High School Musical 3: Musical Numbers

Yeah, this is only for the musical numbers. Why?
1) They were the best freaking part of the entire movie!
2) There were loads of little kiddies in my theatre so I could only really concentrate on the music :)
3) I’m too lazy to critique the movie – plus it’s one of my favorites, I’d hate to have to be objective.

NOW OR NEVER
First off, OMG. Zac Efron at the very beginning? Wow. Just, wow. Personally, I thought this was a great way to start off the movie – it’s so upbeat. I was squirming and dancing in my seat during almost the entire song. Of course, I was singing along a little – I’ve been hearing this song for ages :) I can’t really say much for the dancing, because there wasn’t much haha – but the way that the music went with the game was really cool. I was really impressed with how the music suited just how the game was going – all the tension and such. The heart beat stuff at the beginning – awesome :) That’s about it, heh. It was fun – an excellent way to start off the movie.

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW
I’m not one for ballads, let me just say that now haha :) I loved that they were all alone in the tree house, hehe. It was very cute. And as my mother put it ‘They (Zac & Vanessa) seem much more comfortable with each other in this one.’ And I loved the message that this song put out – to just live for the right now, instead of worrying about the distant future. I just have to say, also, that I loved the bit about the robot and the cape and stuff and ‘She really will come get us down if we don’t go.’ :)

I WANT IT ALL
This was definitely one of my favorite numbers. Definitely. Zac as a crazed Sharpay fan? OMG. Wow. Geniusly amazing :) I’d have to say that was probably my favorite part. I just loved the scale they went to – it was just so fun. And the colors were all bright and such. And of course Ashley and Lucas were just awesome – they were born for those roles, honestly :) I don’t really have much to say I guess, but I always have to sing along when I listen to this song and I was just bursting to get up and dance. I cannot wait for this to come out on DVD. Haha, just thought of something else. Kelsi as cab driver? Haha, fun :)

CAN I HAVE THIS DANCE
Since when was the roof that huge? Haha, sorry it just surprised me that it was that big. I thought this song was beautifully choreographed and beautifully performed both on the roof and in the gym for the ‘prom’ scene. Vanessa’s dancing I especially noticed – it was so, graceful. Except her dress seemed a bit short for that particular dance, maybe that’s just me? I don’t know – but my mother also agreed with me. Haha, and if you haven’t watched the DVD extra (on the DVD that came with the CD), you must watch it. Monique gets a little fangirly about her dancing with Zac Efron – who I can’t believe she’s never danced with. But anyway, beautiful – both the song and the number. I loved the random rain too haha – but I’d have hated to have to go to class like that.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
This is another one that I just love. ‘Don’t Panic.’ ‘PANIC.’ It’s just, everything’s so true haha :) And I don’t know, after going to Homecoming, you just can totally relate to it. And there’s the classic father stare down :) I love when they twist their hands or whatever – awesome. And it’s just such a fun song. I only wish they sold dresses half as pretty as the dresses in this movie around here. And I adore the boys ‘I guess..’ ‘Oh, man.’ Stuff between the girls being all excited hehe :)

JUST WANNA BE WITH YOU
(on my CD, in my computer, there are two of these – one of them is actually ‘A Night to Remember’ – just a little tidbit :)) I love the duet between Kelsi and Ryan – they’re so cute :) And I loved Troy walking across the rows of seats haha. And the paint getting on his hands? HAHA. And it’s just a very good commitmentish song. Oh I don’t know, but I liked it :)

THE BOYS ARE BACK
OMG. WOW. LOVE RIGHT HERE. The choreography for this was just awesome – and the set, so boy :) And Troy and Chad being all superhero/spy was so funny hehe. And it was such a nice change of pace from all the couple stuff that was before this (other than ‘I Want it All’). And little Troy and Chad? So cute. That’s another thing, the transitions between real world and fantasy were awesome – you barely noticed them they were so clean. Anyway, love this song. And the choreography. I think my mom said this was her favorite :) THE BOYS ARE BACK.

WALK AWAY
This one was so sad. I was sad. It made me sad, haha. I was kind of confused, however, by all of the pictures fading? I mean, I got the one of she and Troy fading but I was confused by all of their (Gabriella & Mrs. Montez’s) stuff disappearing. But it created a sort of mood, which was cool. And after this song, I felt so bad for Troy – seriously. But when I hear it on the CD it has almost a happy vibe? Does that make sense? I guess it’s a visual thing. You have to see it with the right things, maybe? Anyway. This one was good too, of course :)

SCREAM
(This one is labeled as ‘Now or Never’ in WMP, weird? Yes) Ugh. I totally thought this was going to be some sad, ballad. I was like ‘Ugh, no more ballads please’ and then BAM. AMAZINGNESS. Haha :) I loved the effects of this one. With like, the strobe light thing and all of the basketballs falling and the room tilting and oh my gosh, wow yeah. It was so awesome. I was sitting there and I was like ‘BUT HOW DID THEY DO THAT?’ Editing geek, right there ;) This is my favorite song, my favorite part of the movie. Zac was just amazing – you could really feel the anger and the raw emotion in it. I loved when he tore down the banner too – that was so symbolic I was like “AHHH.” When I listen to this on the CD, the beginning (after the slow bit, but before the balls fall) it sounds so happy. It’s confusing, hehe :) And then I loved Mrs. D being there. Ah, so perfect. This is my favorite.

SENIOR YEAR SPRING MUSICAL
I loved the beginning of this. It was awesome, and so true :) I’m so glad Kelsi got some singing roles in this. The collab of all the other songs was okay, but I really was kind of disappointed that they just repeated songs. I mean, really. Now or Never was weird without Troy though. Haha, I loved I Want it All :) Ryan’s pink pants? HAHA, I loved them. And I loved how Sharpay had to duet with what’s his name! That was just great, seriously haha. That kid has a good voice. ‘Ew’ haha :) And then of course Troy and Gabriella showed up and completely stole the show. And it was amazing, haha. I was so glad Sharpay kicked (basically) Tiara off her stage. Because Tiara was evil, dang it.

WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
This really wasn’t in the movie very much was it? I mean I heard a little of it during the graduation bit, but not really. Maybe it was those darn kiddies. I like this song slow, it’s like. I don’t know, but it’s not like… it works. Haha. Yeah, I have a feeling either they were talking over this song or the kiddies were. Because I only heard a little bit of this. But it’s pretty :)

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
OMG GREASE? Haha. This really does have that sort of ‘Grease’ vibe to it – which isn’t a bad thing. It’s cool :) But this is such a perfect ending. Seriously. I don’t think they could’ve written a better song. And it really reminded me of the ends of all of the other movies – but in a totally new and unique way. I loved it. (Oh and this is completely unrelated but that Suite Life episode (Lip Syncin’ in the Rain) where they do HSM is on :)) A perfect way to end an amazing movie. My friends and I started this stomp-stomp-clap thing during it too. It rocked. Except the stupid kids kept doing it when the music stopped (doing it) – geez. At least learn rhythm. I also loved how they showed all of them at the end – that was nice. I wish I could have seen the actual credits, but we left so that we wouldn’t be trampled :)
