How To Make Your Video Glow
INTRODUCTION:
Although I don't generally use the glow effect anymore (it slows down the video during the editing process
and I, quite frankly, don't have the patience for it) I remember quite vividly that this was the effect that really
drew me into Vegas and is probably one of the most used effects out there. I remember having an awfully
difficult time trying to figure it out until I flat out asked (see below) so I felt it'd be nice to have a tutorial
for it somewhere. If you're unsure what I mean by a "Glow" effect, this is what I mean and this is what I'll be helping
you to create today. (:

PLEASE NOTE:
I originally learned how to use this effect from two amazing vidders,
SJJTNJ, so this is by no means
an original. I am not, however, copying their words of advice to me. This is solely for educational
purposes. Just as I didn't copy their technique, please don't copy mine. Please only use this
as a guideline.
This tutorial was made using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0, but is compatible with all versions.
+ I am assuming that you already have some sort of clip on your timeline, but if you don't
go ahead and drag and drop it there. (:
+ Next go ahead and find your VIDEO FX tab and click it.
+ Now once you've done that, scroll down until you reach the "Glow" option.
+ I prefer to use "Reset to None," but you can choose any of the options in front of you.
For this, however, I'll be using "Reset to None" so I suggest you do as well or you may
get a bit lost. Drag and drop the "Reset to None" option either to the specific clip in your
timeline [if you only wish to use it on that particular clip] or to the video preview window
[if you wish to use it for the entire video].
+ Now a window ought to pop up with options for you to edit your "Glow." You may need
to move it aside to be able to see your video. Here, you can mess around with the settings.
Glow percent is just how much your video will "glow." I tend to make mine somewhere
between 0.045 and 0.061. Below this is your Intensity, or how much glow your video
will have. If you raise this very high you will notice that you can no longer see the subjects
of your video. I generally keep mine between 0.606 and 1.818. Last is Suppression,
which basically suppresses whatever intensity you have and makes the image a bit darker.
Mine follows the same guidelines as Glow percent.
+ And that's virtually it. If you'd like to change the color you can do that as well. Just move the
arrows to the right around a bit. You'll get the hang of it. (:
And that's about it. If you have any questions or whatever, feel free to drop me a message
on YouTube. Also,
if you'd like to know a specific GLOW setting, feel free to ask. (:
